MORE INFORMATION:

Guided walking tours for GROUPS can be booked (for 8 and up to 20 participants), taking in the best views of Eel Pie Island, as seen from Twickenham’s Embankment.

If your group is either smaller or larger than above, do get in touch nonetheless. We are always happy to accommodate visitors whenever possible - no matter how many or how few they are!

All walks (even if taking place outside of the Museum’s regular opening times) include entrance to the Museum.

Meeting at the Museum, our walks set off into Twickenham's historic riverside village as we head towards the island's bridge. The walks then continue along Twickenham's Embankment and riverside, ending either in nearby York House Gardens (A SLICE OF EEL PIE) or just shy of Hammerton's Ferry near Marble Hill House (ARCADIAN THAMES).

Our walking tours are very much a leisurely stroll, with frequent bench stops. Lightweight fold-up ‘walking stools’ are also available on request. There are no steps on either of the itineraries listed below.

During the walk, each participant has sole use of a 30-page A4 folder packed with images of ‘then’ and ‘now' from the Museum's Archives.

A walking tour typically lasts 45-60 minutes, and questions and contributions from participants are very much encouraged!

Choose from either:

★ ‘A SLICE OF EEL PIE’ – Eel Pie Island’s fascinating past and present, told on a stroll along Twickenham’s historic Embankment.

★ ‘ARCADIAN THAMES’ - from Eel Pie Island to Marble Hill House, celebrating four centuries of the Twickenham’s historic riverside.

£10 per person (non-Member) for walking tours.
